Density of States

Our times are defined by density. The changes in a given time, information, spacing of people, pixels or transistors. From urban density comes a clustering and multi-modal interaction of inhabitants and environment. Across many length-scales, the density of states contributes to our reality: quantum, material, neighborhood, greater city, and societal. Silica, the quintessential building material of the times (whether in building facades, concrete, camera lenses or as an electrical insulator), impacts our experience at so many levels.

The electronic of states of silica allow for reflection, and transmission of visible light. This series uses single exposure captures to explore the concept of “Density of States” within the urban environment; challenging senses,  perspective and context.
